The Technical Design Lead plays a vital role in ensuring that all project designs are accurately developed, coordinated, and executed according to client requirements, engineering standards, and local regulations. This role oversees the technical design process across multiple projects, guiding a team of engineers and draftsmen to deliver compliant, cost-effective, and constructible design solutions that align with the company’s objectives and project timelines.
Lead the design coordination process between architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines to ensure full integration and technical consistency.
Review and validate design drawings, BOQs, and specifications to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with contract documents.
Translate concept and tender drawings into detailed construction drawings suitable for execution on site.
Provide technical guidance to design and drafting teams, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and project requirements.
Review shop drawings and as-built drawings prior to submission for consultant approval.
Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and discrepancies.
Support the project team in value engineering to optimize material usage and reduce costs without compromising quality or design intent.
Ensure that all design outputs meet statutory codes, safety regulations, and local authority requirements (e.g., Kuwait Municipality, Civil Defense).
Supervise the development and maintenance of the project documentation system, ensuring proper version control and record-keeping.
Conduct design review meetings and follow up on technical queries and RFIs.
Provide design input during tendering and estimation stages as needed.
Train and mentor junior engineers, draftsmen, and coordinators within the technical department.
Bachelor’s Degree inArchitecture, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Minimum 8 years of experience in technical design and coordination within a contracting or construction company.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and MS Office (knowledge of Primavera or BIM tools is an advantage).
Excellent knowledge of Kuwait Building Codes, local regulations, and authority approval processes.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
